19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.
His varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.
It is his first trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since spring of that year.
The win also signifies the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct tournaments.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.
His defensive play style and regular reactions on court had led some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.
However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair traded break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a final set.
Moutet saved four early chances in a close final set before the champion secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
